Sealing and Curing Losses
(1) After TCP perforation or reperforating
{ shoot & pull }
(2) After a DST, after a frac job & after a gravel
pack job & prior to p.o.o.h.
1-
Killing a well prior to a workover:
In case of a workover being: a change or repair in pump,
a change of producing string, adding new perfs or reperforating
etc. the following need to be done:
Displace the pill all the way down the tubing using the
Thixsal-Ultra viscous carrier ahead &
behind to the top of the SSD.
a- you may either spot it out of the
tubing & into the casing above the packer, then unset
the packer and allow it at least 30 minutes to gravitate
down and seal at the formation face
b- or you may displace it to the SSD top, close this one
and bull head the pill till it reaches and seal at the
formation face and a sudden increase in pumping pressure
occur .
Once your perfs are sealed and losses are cured . p.o.o.h
.
You may run now a new completion string and or a TCP / DST
string to perforate and test in a shoot and pull or drop.
2-
Killing a well after a workover:
In case of a shoot & pull, you need to remix a new pill
based on new perforated interval length & displace it
downhole to protect the formation against losses prior to
p.o.o.h.
3-
Controlling losses after a Frac job & or
a Gravel pack job:
After a frac job and prior to p.o.o.h,
since losses are expected due to the tremendous increase
in the K factor, a pill need to be spotted to seal at the
frac proppant face, this pill will be designed based on
the propant size used and is not harmful to the frac &
is compatible with materials used.
After a Gravel pack job and prior to p.o.o.h
with string to run completion, the formation need
protection against losses. The best way is to pump and seal
with the
Bridgesal-Ultra pill inside the
screen, thus stopping all losses to the newly gravel packed
formation. The pill will be designed based on the screen
gauge size used.
