Definition of Perforating Guns & Systems:

To obtain optimum productivity & or injectivity from cased hole oil and gas wells, one needs to perforate adequately to obtain maximum well performance, thus the usage of mechanically, hydraulically actuated &/or electrically perforating guns.

Electric line guns require only a firing head above the gun assembly as a system.

Mechanical & hydraulic fired guns are tubing conveyed guns that require a Firing Head and assorted Accessories to run in hole and become a system.

Both above are widely applicable and each system is for specific applications. Nevertheless all cased hole wells need to be perforated and will use either one from above perforating gun system.

Basic components are:
From bottom up: Bull Plug / Carrier Gun Assembly / Tandem Subs / Firing Heads

Components are
:
Guide sub no-go / Pup Joints / Glass Disc / Underbalance Sub / Shock Absorbers, etc…

Running Tools are:

Lift Subs / Support Plates / Protectors, etc…

The tubing conveyed perforating system will have different desired gun sizes to accept charges of different hole diameter and penetration based on the charge tube assy fitted inside the carrier and connected via a tandem sub to give you the final length required.
