Description
The Protect Auto-Release Mechanical Firing Head is a mechanically actuated firing head, which automatically releases the perforating gun assembly, allowing it to drop to the bottom of the well, after firing.
The 'Auto-Release Head' uses the same protected firing head as the 'Mechanical Firing Head' to minimize any risk of accidentally activating the firing head with logging tools.

A drop bar is utilized to initiate the firing and releasing sequence. The impact of the drop bar drives the firing pin down firing the initiator, which in turn fires the cord and boosters. The cord in turn fires the shaped charges. The Auto-Release Firing Head utilizes the
high-pressure gas produced by the firing sequence to release the guns allowing the gun assembly and the inner components of the firing head to fall to the bottom of the well leaving a full tubing ID.

NOTE: For wells up to 40° from vertical, use a conventional drop bar. For wells in excess of 40°, a roller equipped drop bar is recommended. If deviation is over 60°, a hydraulic activated firing head should be used.
